Our House in Progress Pt 2

The first time I reported on the progress of the house, I ended with the framing/roofing pictures which were taken the last week in March.

During the first week or two of April, the siding was put on, and then it seemed that nothing happened to the house itself for a looong time, but plenty was going on all around it. The sewer, the geothermal heating system, the well drilling, the trench for the electric line, etc. I think almost every square foot of the front and right side and some of the back yard area was dug, something buried, and covered over again. At least it seemed so!

The Mr. also spent quite a few evenings helping to remodel and lay tile in the home of our friends and a brother.Exchanging work is a good way to help cut some costs and make memories. :)

And then, in the month of June, things began happening on the inside of our house once again. The electrical, the plumbing, the heating, and the insulation. And with July came, at long last, the drywall! It seemed like such a huge accomplishment to get to that part . . . of actually closing things up and beginning to see what this houseplan on paper actually feels like in real life!

So here, for the record, is the order of events up to this point!

{The siding done by our friend Richard and his employee, with my Mr. Nissley helping too whenever he could.}

D loving every minute of “working” along-side his daddy.

Filling in the ditches dug for the geothermal heating & cooling system. I suuuure hope they did it right,
’cause I’d hate to dig up 4 huge trenches to figure out the problem spot!! :)

~well drilling~
{and the weeds never stop growing, even in drought!}

My Mr. Nissley, along with the kind help of his electrician brother and brother-in-law wired the house.
Don’t look now, but there are a lot of hi-hat lights in there {with energy efficient bulbs, of course},
not because he buys into the environmental stuff one bit . . . but if it will save him $$$ . . .
yes, he’ll take them, thanks very much. Let there be light!

~heating~

~plumbing & insulation~

~I’m excited to have my kitchen sink by this large window!~

~July 2012~
The drywall

{dining room}

{kitchen: the ceiling gets wood.}

{work room: schooling, crafting, music, you name it! I’m very excited about this room!}

{living room}

So that brings us up to date on all of that! This month Mr. Nissley, and any help he can get, will install the trim . . . and then it’s time for a first coat of paint. Yesss! The children and I do happy dances in these rooms several times a week {or perhaps daily, several times a day}, and play hide & seek while the hardworking husband works on!

I’m also told that some landscaping will happen the beginning of August. Oh now that will be a most-welcome day! Might even add a touch of class to an otherwise unruly exterior.

The Lord has been so good to meet our needs for this project thus far through many helping hands, strength for long days, and of course the $$$ required.

My bed is calling. Good night! And please stop by for a real-life tour if you happen to be nearby!

    Wow, so much has changed and happened even since we were there a month ago! How exciting!! I can’t wait to visit you in that beautiful new house. :) And I got VERY excited when I saw the makings of a FIREPLACE in your living room!! Not sure what to be most excited about in your new house – your wonderful big kitchen, the craft/school room, or the fireplace. Or the guest quarters in the basement. :) So exciting!
